What People Are Saying About My CD's

CD Title: "u-reap-what-u-sow-2"

*
www.mp3.com.au (17/Jun/2002):  "HOLYFuNk!!!! WOW!! What a refreshing change from 'pidgeon-holed' music! Jon-E-Shakka's "U-REAP-WHAT-U-SOW", is a funky blend of a variety of musical influences & styles. My favourite track was: "LOVE.1.WAY", an inspirational reminder of what is truly important in life, wise words of peace & love (you can never have too much of that) without preaching(!!), set to a background of jungle beats!!  My second fave is "Goodman/ Goodwoman"....I checked out his site also & this guy's been around for 25 years, performing with top entertainers, including Céline Dion, Bare-Naked Ladies & Jermain Jackson! Impressive! Not only does he compose, he is a Dancer & Choreographer, as well!! Thanx for including him on your site!" -kat mandu, Ottawa

*
www.godsofmusic.com: "Love 1 Way" is similar to Run DMC because of the choppy, old school style of rappin'.  It is nice to hear this style again because a lot of artists are going too techno and using too many drop beats.  TheAfrican drum influence is apparent here and a nice addition.  You can actually visualize people dancing around a fire like on some of the documentaries about Africa that frequent the Discovery Channel.  Jon has the lyrical style of Bob Marley as they both write a message within.  All this said, "Love1 Way" grows on you in a way that is hard to describe.  It reminds you of the glory days of hip-hop when it was still "underground", beats with lyrics in its purest form.  He uses a background singer who has a great voice that seems to mould the song into a music pleasure. At times the background vox seems to have an almost religious tone. You have to hear this song to get an idea of what it's about. I had to listen to ita few times to enjoy and appreciate all aspects of it.

Jon draws on all of his influences and utilizes sounds from many types of music to make his own.   I believe his music will stay underground for sometime because it requires the listener to build up a taste. Go listen to it ..."
